Mentors
(high involvement with students – high commitment)
Mentors are essential to an effective ministry with the youth at Hope
Church. They are called to be available and involved in the lives of
students in order to be a model of Christ-likeness, demonstrating love and
compassion. Through these discipling relationships, the students will
learn more then can ever be taught to them in a program, because they will
see the Christ-life as it is truly lived out in the mentor. The time
commitment expected here is a minimum of 90 minutes per week outside of
program times. This includes prayer and active contacting by phone,
mail/email, or in person. The mentor will commit to the 5-3-1 principle
where they will know five students, develop relationships with three, and
focus on one. Mentors can also get involved by teaching on Wednesday or
Sunday nights or by leading a small group.
